Fit Fathers

June 29, 2015

It’s been a couple of weeks now since National Men’s Health Week, which coincidently was followed by Father’s Day, which we do hope you didn’t forget about this year and got him something great, but do you ever talk to him about his health now and in the future? Men’s Health Week was a fantastic week of knowledge and advice this year, and making sure you pass some it onto Dad could end up being one the best gifts he get this year.

Based on recent health studies 1 in 5 men die before they reach the age of 65, and by making Hull your home, men are also living an average of 3 years less than the rest of their English counterparts. Men living in Hull are also 39% more likely to develop cardiovascular disease, which is quite scary really as CHD along with Cancer accounts for more than half of Hull’s under 75 deaths. So making sure Dad stays healthy while he’s fit enough and able too is extremely important.

Reminding Dad about regular health checks is the best way to make sure he stays healthy, but being active on a weekly basis can really help too. Doing just 2 and a half hours of moderate exercise each week is all it takes to lower his chances of getting diseases such as Cancer, CHD, Diabetes and High Cholesterol.

To encourage Dad about being healthy and exercising, why not mention some of the great sporting opportunities we offer each week.TimeFitAll of our sessions are open to anyone and everyone, all you have to do is come along and join in!

Getting Dad on the path to a long and healthy lifestyle is a gift no one can turn down. Especially when it’s so easy to achieve.
